On Monday, April 18, Armenians observe a Remembrance Day of the Dead. The day after the five tabernacle or daghavar feasts is merelots, the word in Armenian for Remembrance Day of the Dead (Nativity, Easter, Transfiguration, Assumption, Exaltation of the Holy Cross). According to tradition, the faithful visited and had tombs blessed, as they transmitted to their beloved ones the good news of the Resurrection.
