PRELATE LEADS A DAY OF FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP AT WHITINSVILLE’S ASSUMPTION CELEBRATION

On Sunday, August 17, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, on the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. During his message, the Prelate highlighted the life of St. Mary as a role model of complete obedience, surrounding herself to the will of God. He noted that Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church is one of the most beautiful and vibrant parishes of the Eastern Prelacy.  The faith of the parish has enabled the community to witness the power of the Holy Spirit.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Anoushavan offered prayers and blessings for newborn Arek Ara Nalbandian, son of Deacon Ari and Ani Nalbandian.

The celebration of the feast day continued with the annual picnic of Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church. With over 700 people attending, from near and far, a great day of fun, fellowship, and delicious food was enjoyed by all, in an atmosphere of fellowship and thanksgiving for God’s abundant blessings.

Archbishop Anoushavan, surrounded by clergy from the New England area sister churches, presided over the Antasdan (Blessing of the Four Corners of the World) and the Blessing of the Grapes ceremony.

Music was provided by John Berberian, Bruce Gigarjian, Mal Barsamian and Jason Naroian. The day concluded in a joyous spirit of gratitude, with plenty of dancing, beautiful weather, friends, food, fun and, above all, an awareness of God’s blessings upon the parish and its faithful.
