ARCHPRIEST FR. ANTRANIG BALJIAN PRESENTS SECOND LENTEN LECTURE
On Wednesday, February 25, the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America held the second installment of its six-part Lenten lecture series, co-sponsored by St. Illuminator’s Cathedral and presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate.
Following the Husgoom Service, Archpriest Fr. Antranig Baljian, Pastor Emeritus of St. Stephen’s Armenian Church in Watertown, Massachusetts, delivered a lecture titled “Reflection on the Recommendations of the Proclamation by His Holiness.”
Fr. Antranig offered a thoughtful reflection on His Holiness Catholicos Aram I’s 12 fatherly recommendations, while also placing them within the historical context of the Armenian Church’s communal spiritual and religious life. No one is better suited for this than Fr. Antranig—the first American-born Armenian priest—who, beyond his pastoral work, has been deeply involved in the Christian educational ministry of the Eastern Prelacy for nearly five decades (member of the Religious Council, chairman of the Armenian Religious Education Council, founding instructor of the St. Gregory of Datev Institute, and later its director, among many other roles).
In keeping with tradition, the evening program concluded with table fellowship.
The series continues next Wednesday, March 4, with Archpriest Fr. Nerses Manoogian, Pastor Emeritus of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church (PA), who will present a lecture on “Councils of the Armenian Apostolic Church.”
