EASTERN PRELACY LAUNCHES SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER TRAINING ON THE NICENE CREED

On Monday, March 16, the Eastern Prelacy began a five-part Zoom Sunday School teacher training program on the Nicene Creed, based on the recently published booklet The Council of Nicaea and the Creed of Nicaea in the Armenian Church, authored by Archdeacon Shant Kazanjian, Director of Christian Education. Twenty-one Sunday School teachers and directors have registered for the program.

In the first session, Dn. Shant discussed the Creed of Nicaea as formulated by the fathers of the Council of Nicaea (325). The second session will examine the expanded Armenian version of the Nicene Creed as recited during the Divine Liturgy (Soorp Badarak), while the third session will explore the role of the Creed in the life of the Church.

The final two sessions will consist of practical workshops for Grades 7–10 and 1–6, presented respectively by Nayiri Baljian of St. Stephen’s Sunday School (Watertown, MA) and Marina Tekeyan of Sts. Vartanantz Sunday School (Ridgefield, NJ).
