FR. STEPHAN BALJIAN PRESENTS FIFTH LENTEN LECTURE

The fifth session of the six-part Prelacy Lenten Lecture Series took place on Wednesday, March 18, at St. Illuminator’s Cathedral in New York City and was presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate. 

Following the Husgoom Service, Rev. Fr. Stephan Baljian delivered a lecture titled “The Canons of the Council of Manazkert.” Fr. Stephan serves as pastor of St. Gregory Armenian Church of Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts, and has for many years been a member of the teaching staff of the Prelacy’s St. Gregory of Datev Institute Summer Program for youth ages 13–18. He has a forthcoming book, to be published by the Eastern Prelacy, featuring English translations of hymns attributed to St. Nerses Shnorhali.

The sixth and final session of the Lenten program will take place on Wednesday, March 25. Deacon Shant Kazanjian, Director of Christian Education for the Eastern Prelacy, will reflect on “The Way of the Word: Scripture as the Foundation of Spiritual Life.
