This week’s letter is from Avet,* who is sponsored by Arthur Bedrosian, in honor of Sevana Bohchalian.
* In order to protect the privacy of the children we use only their first names.
Dear Sponsor and Friend,
I am Avet, son of commander colonel Armen… I am 9 years old and go to Charents Public School. My teachers tell me that I am a good student, but my mother tells me to read even more. My mother does her best to fit my music school, theater, and basketball afterschool program’s classes in her busy work schedule.
I play oud. Recently, our National Ensemble of Folk Instruments had a concert in Yerevan Opera House, and I was featured playing oud with them.
My mother teaches English. She tells me that she must work a lot so that we can buy a house, because currently we live in the covered balcony of my uncle’s apartment.
My father was killed in the 2020 Artsakh War. He fought in all three wars in Artsakh. I wasn’t even 5 years old when he was killed, but I remember everything: his kind smile, his mighty posture, and every single detail.
Dear Sponsor, I don’t know you personally, but I am sure that you are the kindest person in the world to help me without even knowing me, and your kindness lives in my heart and my mother’s.
I promise you to always be a good student and to help people. I dream of becoming a doctor and help everyone who needs it, just the way you help us now.
Love,
Avet
