HOLY SEE TAKES PART IN CLIMATE DISCUSSIONS WITH ACT ALLIANCE

On February 17 and 18, 2021, ACT Alliance, in cooperation with ACT Lebanon Forum, organized an online dialogue about climate change crisis, in which Very Rev. Fr. Hrant Tahanian participated on behalf of the Holy See of Cilicia.

ACT Alliance, a global organization that gathers 145 churches in 120 countries, is pursuing several climate justice projects through regional and national channels within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and the Paris Climate Agreement.

This dialogue intends to encourage the participation by local churches as well as faith-based NGOs, seeking to involve them along with government agencies in the response to the climate crisis challenges.

This conversation was also an opportunity to focus on the consequences of climate change in Lebanon as well as on the obligations the country has assumed under environmental agreements.
