The prelates of the three Prelacies of North America, Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian (Eastern Prelacy), Archbishop Papken Tcharian (Canadian Prelacy), and Bishop Torkom Donoyan (Western Prelacy) had an online meeting on Friday, March 5. The dignitaries conferred on ecclesiastic, religious, and community issues, as well as the development of educational and spiritual initiatives, and exchange ideas on the current challenges to Armenians worldwide. Archbishops Anoushavan and Papken congratulated Bishop Torkom on his election as Prelate of the Western Prelacy and wished him success in his mission.
The three prelates spoke about the church ceremonies and their adaptation to local requirements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Accordingly, they decided to postpone for a year the gathering of clergy from the three Prelacies, which is convened every two years on the celebration of the Holy Translators, in October, and which was scheduled to be held this year in New York.
These meetings will be held monthly, giving an opportunity to exchange views and experiences, as well as join efforts. The three prelates expect to have a meeting in person in one of the prelacies to discuss plans for joint activities.
