ANEC TEACHER TRAINING 2020-2021 SEASON CONCLUDES

On Saturday, May 29, ANEC marked the conclusion of its Teacher Training program for the period 2020-2021 with a virtual celebration. The project became possible thanks to support by the Department of Armenian Communities of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Following opening remarks by ANEC Director Mary Gulumian, Archbishop Anoushavan delivered the opening prayer. Ms. Gulumian then reviewed briefly what had been accomplished during the training program, calling it “a revolution in teaching methodology.”

Ani Garmiryan, Senior Program Officer responsible for the promotion of Western Armenian and educational programs at the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, who was the lead teacher of this course, along with assistant teachers Sevana Tchakerian, Maral Kerovpyan, and Vahan Kerovpyan, expressed her deep satisfaction, calling it an exchange of experiences by Armenian culture professionals that will benefit students with modern pedagogical approaches, bringing them closer not only to their teachers but also to the Armenian language, culture, and identity.

Participants discussed informally their impressions and learnings. Haroutioun Missirlian, chairman of ANEC, praised the initiative as did the Prelate in his closing remarks. Archbishop Anoushavan also thanked Razmik Panossian, the head of the Department of Armenian Communities of the Gulbenkian Foundation, for his support, as well as Ms. Gulumian for the successful execution of the project.
