His Holiness Catholicos Aram I presided over a meeting of the Cilician Brotherhood monks in residence in the monastery of the Holy Mother of God in Bikfaya, Lebanon, on Monday, July 12.
The Catholicos saluted the attendees, wishing them productive summer days. He said that Brotherhood members, whether in residence at the Holy See or serving in the different prelacies, are part of one indivisible body that works with the same principles, values, and goals. He reminded the congregants that our nation is faced with serious problems and challenges. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance for the Armenian clergy to redouble their spiritual service and dedication, displaying a sober and responsible attitude.
The Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, continuing the work of the last two years, will provide support to 2,000 needy Lebanese Armenian families next week in an effort led by Brotherhood members.
His Holiness expressed praise for two young clergymen who are pursuing university studies, saying higher education is a priority and needs to be exalted through service. A group composed of former principals of the Armenian Theological Seminary has begun to review its curriculum, faculty and timetables to factor in the current circumstances.
He also greeted the presence of the newly ordained five novice priests in the Brotherhood meeting. In his closing remarks, the Catholicos announced new appointments while reconfirming other fathers in their current roles.
