PRELATE VISITS AMBASSADOR, ANCA IN WASHINGTON

Concludes trip to D.C. with ecumenical prayer at St. Sophia Greek Cathedral

His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate, paid a visit to His Excellency Varuzhan Nersesyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the United States on Wednesday, July 14, as his diplomatic mission comes to a close. His Eminence and Archpriest Fr.  Sarkis Aktavoukian, Pastor of Soorp Khatch Church of Bethesda, MD, who accompanied him, discussed the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh with the Ambassador.

Archbishop Anoushavan had words of praise for the close ties the Ambassador developed with the ecclesiastical and lay leadership of the Armenian community of the U.S.

Following the visit to Ambassador Nersesyan, Archbishop Anoushavan and Archpriest Sarkis visited the offices of the Armenian National Committee of America, where they met with the young interns. The Prelate expressed his admiration for the tireless work the ANCA carries out to defend the Armenian interests both at federal and state levels. He also complimented internship participants, saluting in them the righteous generation of tomorrow.

In the evening, the Prelate and Archpriest Sarkis took part in an ecumenical prayer organized by In Defense of Christians and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC.
