CATHOLICOS ARAM I MEETS CHURCH LEADERS, DIPLOMATS IN GENEVA
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I met with Bishop Harald Rein, head of the Old Catholic Church of Switzerland, on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in Geneva. They talked about discussions representatives of both churches hold on contemporary social and moral matters as well as the possibilities of cooperation with the University of Berne on a number of projects. The Old Catholic Church is one of the most actively involved in the ecumenical movement.
On Tuesday, Nov. 2, the Catholicos received Rev. Dr. Dirk Lange, of the Lutheran World Federation. During the meeting with Dr. Lange, Assistant General Secretary for Ecumenical Relations, His Holiness discussed about the possibilities of a theological dialogue between the Eastern Orthodox Churches and the LWF.
Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, World Council of Churches General Secretary, visited His Holiness on Monday (pictured above). In their conversation, Dr. Sauca outlined the challenges faced by the organization and the planning for the general assembly scheduled for next year. Prof. Teny Pirri-Simonian, Holy See of the Great of House of Cilicia representative for ecumenical relations in Geneva, attended the meetings with Bishop Harald, Dr. Sauca and Dr. Lange.
On Sunday, His Holiness received the visit of Antoine Laham, Assistant to the UN Envoy for Syria at the hotel he is staying at in Geneva. They discussed the situation in Syria, including that of the Armenian community.
