His Holiness Catholicos Aram I presided over the Feast of St. Gregory the Illuminator’s descent into the pit (Khor Virab) on Saturday, April 2, as part of traditional celebrations including a pilgrimage and a procession that attracted the enthusiastic participation of the public.

The day began early in the morning, with students at the Seminary of the Holy See and the faithful pilgrimage from the Holy Mother of God Monastery in Bikfaya to the Mother Monastery in Antelias.

After Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory the Illuminator’s Cathedral, His Holiness brought out the relic of the right hand of St. Gregory from the Cilicia Museum, following which he led the traditional procession and celebrated the blessing of the water.
