St. Sarkis, in Douglaston, NY, and Sts. Vartanantz, in Ridgefield, NJ, received the Holy Muron on the last two Sundays as Archbishop Anoushavan continues to distribute the newly consecrated chrism he has brought over from the Holy See in Antelias.
The Prelate presided over the Blessing of the Waters with the Muron at both churches as they took delivery of the holy oils, which are used in sacraments and services including christening, ordinations as well as a number of ceremonies. In a tradition that is unique to the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Holy Muron is prepared every seven years. Following its blessing at the Catholicosate, it is distributed throughout the Prelacy churches, in what truly constitutes a journey of blessings, as the Muron symbolizes the grace of Holy Spirit, rebirth, and renewal in our Lord.
