The annual Sts. Vartanantz Church Food Festival of Providence took place on Saturday, October 15th on the church grounds.
The weather was perfect, and around seventy volunteers joined their efforts to make this event a huge success. Workers started arriving at 5:30am. By 6:10am, the grills were fired up roasting the fresh vegetables. Just before the event was scheduled to begin, Rev. Fr. Kapriel Nazarian prayed with the workers thanking the volunteers for their efforts and thanking God for such a beautiful day.
Under the leadership of co-chairs Arees Khatchadourian and Garo Tashian, it was the first time in decades that the food festival was held at the church. At the time a church bazaar, this tradition was started around 70 years ago. The publicity efforts paid off, with more than 1,000 dinners sold, as guests were entertained with traditional Armenian music starring Harry Bedrossian and his band and the Hamazkayin Artsakh Dance Troupe performance.
