Letters from Armenia

ANAHIT – 2/2/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This week’s letter is from Anahit,* who is sponsored by Noubar and Anie Megerian.

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Anie and Noubar Megerian,

This is two and a half years old Anahit, daughter of hero Major Araik Sargsyan. Because I am still very little, my mom is writing this letter.

I was born on July 10, 2020 in Hadrout, where my parents moved because of my father’s military assignment. I lived there for only two and a half months until the war started, then in a basement for a couple of days and then we permanently left Hadrout and haven’t seen my father since…

Now that I am older and can speak, I speak with his photo and call him, and my dad looks at me from his photograph in his shrine in our living room. I get the fatherly love and warmth from his honest and calm look. Everyone thinks I look like him, especially my big eyes. When I grow up, I want to be a big patriot like him as well.

Dear Sponsor, I gratefully received your special gift of 25 US dollars.
