SIAMANTO MARKS MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY

Siamanto Academy students exchanged ideas about the importance of the mother language in their class on Saturday, February 25, with Armenian-American writer Garin Bedian as guest speaker, International Mother Language Day was celebrated on February 21. Senior students of the Taniel Varoujan School of Glenview (Illinois) also participated in the online session

This is the second time the Siamanto Academy has Bedian as a guest speaker. He is a young writer who has published the Armenian-language book Armenian Haiku (Հայերէն հայքու) under the pen name Garin Angoghinian. As Siamanto students are familiar with this genre of poetry, they were able to keep pace with his talk.

Garin Bedian has settled in Armenia, where he not only carries on with his personal work, but is also engaged in supporting life in the southern city of Meghri and also the Republic of Artsakh. In a lively Q&A, he told his audience that he had also been a student at Taniel Varoujan School. It was a remarkable testimony about current life in Armenia.
