On Sunday, March 19, the documentary film “Blessing of the Mountain” was presented at the St. Illuminator Cathedral’s Pashalian Hall, with the collaboration of Hamazkayin Armenian Cultural and Educational Society of New York and a group of Mousalertsis, under the patronage of Raffi and Hera Makhoulian. Rev. Fr. Vahan and Yn. Maggie Kouyoumdjian, Rev. Fr. Bedros Kadehjian, and Arevik Caprielian, of the Hamazkayin Central Committee, were also in attendance.
“Blessing of the Mountain,” which discusses the history of Musa Dagh and Anjar, was made by Tamar Chahinian, director of the “Hay Horizon” program in Montreal and chairlady of the Hamazkayin Armenian Cultural and Educational Society Canada Region. Rev. Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, Pastor, delivered opening remarks, explaining the initiative and the importance of Mousa Dagh-Anjar in the Diaspora reality.
The proceeds of the project—including the $10,000 collected at the Cathedral—will be allocated to support the installation of solar panels in Anjar On behalf of the people of Anjar, Fr. Mesrob expressed his gratitude to Tamar Chahinian for her unconditional dedication and service.
At the end of the screening, Ms. Chahinian reflected on the attractiveness of the Armenian village of Anjar and the effect of being a part of the native world. Lalig Vartanian also spoke on behalf of Hamazkayin’s New York Chapter, followed by Mrs. Caprielian, in representation of the society’s Central Committee.
As the event came to a close, Fr. Mesrob thanked the audience, the donors, and especially Maral Kabranian-Kaprielian and Pauline Dostoumian for their hard work.
