Every parish of the Eastern Prelacy celebrated the Holy Week with spiritually nourishing ceremonies. On the evening of Maundy Thursday, April 6, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, presided over the ceremonies of the Washing of the Feet and the Betrayal and Passion of Our Lord (Խաւարում/Khavaroom, or Tenebrae, in Latin) at St. Stephen’s Church in Watertown, MA, and the service of the Entombment at Sts. Vartanantz Church in Ridgefield, NJ. On the evening of Holy Saturday, April 8, the Prelate presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Sarkis Church in Douglaston, NY, following which he led a solemn procession to the parish hall, where the traditional Easter Eve (Ճրագալոյց/Jurakalooytz) was served։ On Sunday, April 9, Archbishop Anoushavan celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Illuminator’s Cathedral in New York, on the Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord. At the end of the liturgy, the traditional egg tapping game took place in the cathedral’s Pashalian Hall.
