NORTH AMERICAN PRELATES MEET IN CANADA

His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, and His Grace Bishop Torkom, Prelate of the Western Prelacy, were hosted on Thursday, May 4, by His Eminence Archbishop Papken, Prelate of Canada, in his offices in Montreal, for a previously scheduled meeting.

The North American Prelates discussed the patriarchal visit of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I to the region in October and defined the agenda. They also discussed issues that concern the faithful in their respective jurisdictions as well as matters of general interest to the Armenian people and the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.

The church leaders expressed their hope that the Catholicos’ visit would contribute to the renewal of spiritual life in the North American parishes as well as give boost to the social and cultural activities in these communities.

After hearing reports on Christian and Armenian education in the prelacies, they recommended a meeting among the heads of Christian education to promote cooperation and joint programs. The North American Prelates also ratified their decision to continue holding regular meetings.
