Letters from Armenia

VICTORIA – 7/6/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This week’s letter is from Victoria,* who is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Garbis Garboushian

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Sponsor,

This is Victoria. I am already seven years old and go to 2 nd grade in Yeghvard’s public school #3. I also go to chess classes in the after-school program and to dance classes. I love going to school where everything is interesting to me, and when I grow up I want to become a teacher, an actress, and a dancer. My mom tells me that I will not find time for all of those at the same time, but I want it so much that I will learn all three professions and my dad will be proud of me from heaven.

I miss my dad very much and I want peace in our country so that other children don’t lose their dads too. I love my mom and brother very much. My mom helps me do my homework, and my brother listens to us and tries to be quiet. After finishing my homework, I play with my brother a little bit, and then I love to read fairy tales out loud for him. He is going to start school in September, and I promised that I will help him with his homework. My mom told me about people who help us and I want to thank you for that. I promise to my parents and to you that I will always be a good student and will achieve all your expectations so that you are proud of me.
