Letters from Armenia

EDITA – 8/10/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This letter is from Edita,* who is sponsored by Ladies’ Guild of St. Sarkis Church, of Douglaston, NY.

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Sponsor,

This is 11-year-old Edita. I live in Stepanakert with my mom. I go to 6th grade in school. I do my best to be a good student to be able to reach my goals.

This summer we moved into a new apartment and now we have our own place, but I miss very much the house in our village and my dad. Nothing changed in our life for the last two years.

I go to drawing and sand art classes in the afterschool program. I like to draw pictures, read books, and listen to music. My mom and I are doing well, despite the tension at the borders.

I wish there were no wars and we always lived in Artsakh.

Thank you for your support.
