Letters from Armenia

EMILY – 8/17/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This letter is from Emily, who is sponsored by Ava Seave & Bruce Greenwald

Dear Sponsor,

This is almost 5-year-old Emily. I go to kindergarten and I want to grow up fast to become a doctor, but a military one. I want all the soldiers to be healthy, and our heroes to live among us. My mother writes the letter because I don’t know all the letters yet, but I want to learn to read and write very much.

It is true that we don’t know each other personally, but the reason that we even know about each other is because of my dad. So let me tell you about him. My father Serob had an unbelievable sense of humor. Sometimes, we all just “died” laughing at his jokes. At the same time, he was very balanced and serious person with a good common sense. My father was raising me to be brave, responsible, and decisive. My father and I look very much alike: we have the same brown eyes, same way of walking, same body type, and even some habits. People often call me “little Serob” for being just like him.

I miss my dad very much, even in my sleep. My mom tells me that he is in our hearts, and I tell the same thing to my little sister when I tell her about our hero father. My father is now our guardian angel.

Thanks you, dear Sponsor, for your help. I am grateful that my father’s sacrifice is appreciated and honored.

Wishing you the best,

Emily
