Letters from Armenia

KHACHIK – 10/19/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This letter is from Khachik,* who is sponsored by Karen Bedrosian-Richardson.

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Sponsor,

This is Khachik, 12-years old. I was born on April 26, 2010. I live in Armavir region’s Sardarapat village. I go to 7th grade in Sardarapat’s public school.

I am doing very well in school. I go to chess classes in the after-school program. In my spare time, I like to do sports, but my favorite pastime of all is spending time with my little brother whom I love more than life itself.

My father was a military, and he was killed in Artsakh war on September 29, 2020. I love my father very much and miss him a lot. My little brother was born after my dad’s death, and I am doing my best so that he doesn’t feel alone.

I have many goals which I will accomplish with no doubt. I will become a good person, get a good education, and will help and defend my mother and brother. My father was a wonderful person; he had a very kind heart and I am trying to be like him. Thanks to his life lessons, I am now smarter. I promised my father that I will reach the heights and held high his memory.

Dear Sponsor, I am very grateful to you for helping my mother to handle her everyday problems. My mother takes care of us as well as our grandparents who have health issues. I am very grateful to your continuous help.

Sincerely,

Khachik
