WITH OVER 600 ATHLETES, NAVASARTIAN GAMES CLOSE IN PROVIDENCE
The 32nd Annual Navasartian Games of Homenetmen Eastern Region wrapped up on Saturday, July 6, in Providence, with a closing ceremony at Greenwich High School Stadium, following a tournament that involved more than 600 athletes from 11 branches of the Eastern United States plus a delegation of nine athletes from Laval, Canada. The games on July 4-6 were hosted by the local chapter of Homenetmen under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate.
Rev. Fr. Kapriel Nazarian, Pastor of Sts. Vartanantz Church (Providence), congratulated the participants for the spirit of sportsmanship displayed during the games and conveyed the good wishes of Archbishop Anoushavan to the regional committee of Homenetmen as well as to the sportswomen and sportsmen and scouts who took part in the traditional games and highlighted their importance. Archpriest Fr. Gomidas Baghsarian led the closing prayer.
During the ceremony, Dn. Hagop Khachatourian, also a member of the Executive Council of the Prelacy, received Homenetmen’s Order of Merit for his long service to the organization.
