PRELATE JOINS HOLY TRINITY PARISH TO CELEBRATE ITS YOUTHFUL 90 YEARS

On Sunday, September 15, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, visited Worcester, Massachusetts, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the 90th anniversary of Holy Trinity Church. Before the Lord’s Prayer, the Prelate anointed the icons of the 12 apostles with the Holy Muron. In the sermon, the Prelate first explained the scriptural basis for the use of icons in the universal church and then drew a parallel between the celebration of the Exaltation of the Cross and the sanctification of the images of the apostles. In the same way that Christ himself carried his cross, and the 12 apostles followed him, so do we today, present day’s apostles. When we carry our cross with full awareness, we can overcome all kinds of challenges in life with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the anniversary celebration of the church took place. The chairman of the Board of Trustees, Garo Bekiarian, expressed great satisfaction for the cooperation of the community. Very Reverend Fr. Ardag Arabian, Pastor, in turn, praised the activity of all the bodies of the church. Worcester Mayor Joseph Petti handed over the key of the city to Rev. Fr. Ardag. On behalf of the Religious and Executive Councils, Archbishop Anoushavan congratulated the 90th anniversary of the parish, extolling the unconditional service of all those who had founded and worked for its prosperity, and encouraged all the faithful to continue to serve the church’s Pastor with complete devotion for the development and empowerment of the community.

The anniversary celebration was also attended by Very Rev Fr. Hrant Tahanian, Pastor of St. Stephen’s Church, of Watertown, Massachusetts; Rev. Fr. Mikael Der Kosrofian, Pastor of Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church of Whitinsville, Massachusetts; Rev. Fr. Tateos Parseghian, Pastor of the Church of the Holy Savior, of Worcester, Massachusetts; Richard Kanarian, Vice Chairman, and Tamar Kanarian, Secretary of the Executive Council.
