In Memoriam

YERETSGIN VAZKANOUSH SAHAKIAN (December 10, 1953 – September 20, 2024)

His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, and the Religious and Executive Councils of the Eastern Prelacy, learned with sorrow of the passing of Yn. Vazkanoush Sahakian on Friday, September 20, after a short illness. The burial took place on Tuesday, September 24.

Yn. Vazkanoush Sahagian was the wife of Archpriest Fr. Zareh Sahakian for 43 years, supporting his spiritual service from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, and All Saints Church in Glenview, Illinois. Yn. Vazkanoush, with her modesty and gentle character, never liked being in the spotlight; on the contrary, she always preferred to work quietly. She participated in the life of the auxiliary bodies of the church and sister organizations. Alongside the Pastor, she always encouraged her children to serve the church and the community.

On this sad occasion, the greater family of the Eastern Prelacy expresses its deep condolences to Archpriest Fr. Zareh, his sons Abraham and Levon, and the entire family, praying for the comfort of the Holy Spirit. May the Almighty God rest the soul of Yn. Vazkanoush in His light-filled abode.

May the memory of the righteous be blessed.
