STS. SAHAG AND MESROB INSTITUTE OPENS ITS VIRTUAL DOORS

The Eastern Prelacy’s newly established Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Institute officially opened its virtual doors on Tuesday, February 18, with 44 participants attending the inaugural session. The institute, a personal initiative of His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, with the cooperation of the Prelacy’s Executive Council, aims to provide religious education to members of the Armenian community.

Archpriest Fr. Nareg Terterian, the program’s academic coordinator, welcomed the attendees and provided a brief overview of the course offerings.

Very Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian, who serves as the institute’s dean, also addressed the audience on behalf of the Religious Council. He emphasized the program’s role in deepening the spiritual education of the Armenian faithful.

Archbishop Anoushavan expressed his appreciation for the dedication and organizational efforts of both Archpriest Nareg and Very Rev. Fr. Boghos. He noted that the launch of the institute coincides with the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, making it a fitting occasion to strengthen the faith and identity of the Armenian people. He extended his gratitude to the faculty members who have generously committed their time to this initiative and wished them success in their teaching.

Following the opening remarks, the inaugural lecture was delivered by Rev. Fr. Paul Tarazi, who is leading the first two courses on the Old and New Testaments. These classes, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively, will run from February 18 through March 20. The institute’s curriculum will also cover topics such as Armenian Church history, theology, liturgy, music, and pastoral studies.
