PRELATE COMMENDS ST. STEPHEN’S PARISHIONERS ON PALM SUNDAY

On Sunday, March 29, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown, Massachusetts. In what has become a tradition, His Eminence was in Watertown for Palm Sunday to celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

In his heartfelt homily, the Prelate shared his spiritual message on humility and service, drawing on the example of Christ, and commended the parish members for their dedication as followers of Christ and praised them for being the backbone of the Prelacy.

Afterwards, Archbishop Anoushavan participated in the Palm Sunday’s children procession, which was followed by a special blessing of the new side door of the church.

The traditional Opening of the Portals (Trnpatsek) service followed, with the honor of godfather being bestowed on Mark Guzelian, a dedicated, young parishioner.

The day ended with the annual bake sale hosted by the Ladies Guild of St. Stephen’s Church in the church hall.

In the afternoon, Archbishop Anoushavan presided over the annual dinner of the Armenian Cultural and Educational Center (ACEC). In his remarks, he highlighted the harmonious cooperation between the church and all sister organizations, and referred in particular to the active presence of the youth at the church and in the dinner.
