ARCHPRIEST FR. NERSES MANOOGIAN’S NEW BOOK ON ARMENIAN CHURCH TRADITIONS, PUBLISHED BY THE EASTERN PRELACY
Sis Publications, an imprint of the Eastern Prelacy, has just released a new book, compiled by Archpriest Fr. Nerses Manoogian, Pastor Emeritus of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Philadelphia. The English and Armenian texts of the publication are in one volume.
Armenian Church Traditions of Certain Sacraments and the Five Cardinal Feasts is intended to fill the blanks in all the traditions, both ethnic and cultural, that govern the Armenian Apostolic Church and give an identity to that Church. The book contains very useful information about our ceremonial and national ethnic traditions, including very elementary and basic explanations about the major sacraments of Baptism and Holy Liturgy. This is followed by chapters devoted to the traditions regarding Christmas season, Easter season, the Feast of Transfiguration, Feast of the Assumption, and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. An additional section of miscellaneous includes section on the use of paintings, cremation, madagh, and the meaning of blessing.
