Letters from Armenia

Hovsep – 06/13/24

This letter is from Hovsep,* who is sponsored by Armine Papazian.

Dear Sponsor,

I am Karine, the mother of Hovsep. He is 3 years old now and doesn’t go to kindergarten yet.

Our family used to live in Artsakh, in Shahoumian region’s Askeran village. My husband Armen was killed in the 2020 war in Artsakh. After that tragedy, I moved back to my parents’ house. My parents, grandmother, sister, and brother all lived in the same house.

On the cursed day of September 20, 2023, another war started. My children and my family were transported to Askeran region’s airport for our safety – away from the bombing and fires (from the ruins). There, with the bare minimum of food and clothes, we stayed for a week, and then we were taken to Armenia, with difficulties, and now our big family lives all together: my parents, grandmother (who is more than 80 years old), my three little children, my sisters, and brother – all in one rented house.

Every day we live with that hope that one day everything will be alright.

Thank you for your kind work and for your support.

Mother of Hovsep, Karine
