DR. HAGOP TCHOLAKIAN GUIDES TEACHERS ON ENGAGING STUDENTS IN ARMENIAN WRITING
The first session of the bimonthly Teachers’ Training Program, organized by the Armenian National Education Committee of the Eastern Prelacy, took place on Saturday, October 19. Fifteen teachers attended the session led by Dr. Hagop Tcholakian, focused on the Armenian language. The specific topic was writing skills, with an emphasis on sentence structure and spelling rules.
Dr. Tcholakian highlighted three main strategies for making Armenian language lessons more effective. To encourage students to develop their oral skills, he recommended creating topics that motivate them to speak. For reading skills, he suggested allowing students to read books of interest within the classroom setting. To enhance writing abilities, he emphasized the importance of encouraging students to write and of introducing Armenian keyboard skills to young students, to keep up with technological progress and encouraging them to type in Armenian. A lively Q&A session followed.
