HOLY CROSS COMMUNITY IN TROY CELEBRATES MURON AND ANNIVERSARY
His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at Holy Cross Church in Troy, NY, on Sunday, Sept. 25. Prior to the homily and the Lord’s Prayer, the newly consecrated Holy Muron was brought to the Holy Altar in a solemn procession. The Blessing of the Waters followed.
The Prelate granted the right to bear the stole of diaconate to acolyte Yervant Bardakjian. After Divine Liturgy, a ceremony to mark the 31st anniversary of the independence of Armenia and the blessing of the Armenian flag took place. His Eminence also blessed the new doors of the church, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Ara and Rachel Altunian.
Afterwards the community gathered at Country Club of Troy to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the church. With Hagop Minassian as master of ceremonies, children and teenagers offered a function including poetry, following which stole bearer Yervant Bardakjian expressed his gratitude for the right received by him. Antranig Karageozian, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, reported on the activities carried out so far as well as future plans.
Surrounded by children, the Prelate and the Board of Trustees’ members cut the anniversary cake. Archbishop Anoushavan addressed the public, expressing his satisfaction to the young members of the Board, as well as his gratitude for the support shown by parishioners and friends. He highlighted Mr. Minassian and Mr. Bardakjian’s words of gratitude for their parents, for nourishing their love for the Church, as well as the appreciation expressed by a parishioner, calling Holy Cross a family-oriented church.
The audience spontaneously erupted into singing. Amid this festive mood donations were made. The event was closed with a blessing and the Giligia song.
