Letters from Armenia

LUCIA – 1/5/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This week’s letter is from Lucia,* who is sponsored by Prof. Khachig Tololyan.

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Sponsor,

This is Lucia. I was born on April 3, 2006. I first went to our Barzrashen village school in the Ararat region of Armenia. Currently, I am a student in Yerevan’s State Armenian American Erebouni Specialized Medical High School.

I like to spend my spare time with friends. I went to dance classes in the after-school program for 9 years. I have a brother, Sergey. He is 11 years old, and he is a student in Barzrashen’s school. He wants to become a singer.

I live with my mother and brother. My father was killed in the 44-Day War. He left all his dreams unfulfilled and most importantly he left his family, becoming a martyred hero with many other boys.
