Letters from Armenia

ARTHUR – 1/26/2023

The Prelacy’s Orphan Sponsorship program, established in 1993, remains the centerpiece of the Prelacy’s mission in Armenia and Artsakh. We are pleased to share some of the letters that children regularly address to their sponsors.

This week’s letter is from Arthur,* who is sponsored by Hagop Arouian.

* We use only the first names of the children to protect their privacy.

Dear Sponsor,

This is 17-year-old Arthur. I will be 18 soon and will be drafted to serve in the Armenian army. I live in the village of Davidbek, bordering Azerbaijan.

I am already in 12th grade in school. Parallel to school, I work in a furniture store. It is very cold here, and it rains a lot and gets foggy.

It is quiet in the village presently and there are no shootings, but the danger is always there. When will this war come to end so that we could live in peace? I wish all our boys who serve will come back home safely, including my cousin.

On September 13, 2022, the sound of drones was terrifying. Especially after one fell on Kaghnut village’s military division.

Dear Sponsor, I hope that everything is well with you. My family and I are very grateful to you for being at our side all those years. The money you send us is very helpful.

I wish you good health. May God bless you always.

Love,

Arthur
