PETER “DOC” BEDROSIAN (September 16, 1926 – January 20, 2023)

Archbishop Anoushavan and the Religious and Executive Councils have learned with sorrow of the passing of Peter “Doc” Bedrosian, 96, formerly of Warwick, Rhode Island, on Friday, January 20. Born in Providence, he was one of the three sons of the late Yegeshe and Persape Bedrosian, both survivors of the Armenian Genocide. His brothers Donald and Karnig predeceased him.  He was the beloved husband for 61 years to the late Oppie (Asadoorian) Bedrosian.

Peter Bedrossian, a U.S. veteran from World War II, was the owner and President of the former Narragansett Screw Company in Providence for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was an active member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, serving faithfully on the Board of Trustees and as chairman for many years.  He also chaired the bazaar committee and coached the church basketball team for a long time. He was an honorary member of the Armenian Youth Federation. Mr. Bedrossian also served on the Executive Council of the Eastern Prelacy from 2001-2003.

He is survived by daughters Donna E. Adam and Jean Bilzerian, and three grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 26, in Sts. Vartanantz Church, Providence, followed by burial with military honors at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Vartanantz Church.

The Prelate and the Religious and Executive Councils pray that the Lord will console his loved ones for their loss. May God illuminate his soul.
