PRELACY LENTEN PROGRAM BEGINS, WITH LECTURE SERIES ON NERSES SHNORHALI

The first of a six-part Lenten Program, cosponsored by the Eastern Prelacy and St. Illuminator’s Cathedral, took place on Wednesday, February 22, at St. Illuminator’s Cathedral in New York City. This year the overall theme of the Lenten lecture series is St. Nerses Shnorhali, on the 850th anniversary of his passing.

The program, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate. included a short church service, followed by a lecture by Very Rev. Fr. Sahag Yemishian, Vicar (Prelacy) and Pastor of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church (New Jersey), who presented a concise biography of St. Nerses Shnorhali. Afterwards, there was a table fellowship, sponsored by the Lakissian family. 

On Wednesday, March 1, Rev. Fr. Torkom Chorbajian, pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Philadelphia, will discuss the writings of St. Nerses Shnorhali.
