ARTSAKH FREEDOM FIGHTER RECEIVES WHEELCHAIR-ADAPTED VEHICLE

Ashot Nikoghosian, a freedom fighter commander of the first Artsakh war living in Armenia who lost the use of legs due to a spinal injury in 1994. was gifted a wheelchair-adapted vehicle. This was made possible by generous donations from our New York metropolitan area Church community. Before receiving his specially adapted van, he was forced to spend much of his earnings on transportation rather than on the support of his financially burdened family of fifteen people. Funds for the vehicle were raised at a special fundraiser held in January 2019 under the auspices of Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, and Archbishop Khoren Doghramadjian, Catholicosal Vicar of Cyprus, hosted by Rev. Fr. Mesrob and Yn. Ojeen Lakissian and Mr. and Mrs. Hovhannes and Maral Doghramadjian.

Due to the Covid pandemic, the delivery of the vehicle was delayed. Thanks to the hard work of Archbishop Khoren, Mr. Nikoghosyan recently received the long-awaited vehicle. Thanks are due to all those who contributed to make this project a reality.
