MOURAD SCHOOL BIDS FAREWELL TO ACADEMIC YEAR

The Mourad Armenian School of Sts. Vartanantz Church in Providence, Rhode Island, held its year-end program on Sunday, May 18, honoring the graduating kindergarten and 8th grade classes. The event opened with a prayer by Rev. Fr. Kapriel Nazarian, Pastor, followed by the anthems of the United States and Armenia. Mistress of Ceremonies Araxie Sarkissian welcomed guests and congratulated the graduates. The students presented heartfelt performances that reflected their learning and faith.
School Board Chair Hagop Khatchadourian praised the dedication of teachers, students, and families, and emphasized Catholicos Aram I’s proclamation of 2025 as the “Year of Revitalizing Traditions,” encouraging continued community involvement. Co-principal Lala Attarian described the graduates as “Seeds of Hope” and urged them to carry the torch of heritage forward.
Seven students graduated from 8th grade and seven from kindergarten. Graduates had also participated in an ARS Eastern Region essay contest and received gifts of encouragement. The celebration included tributes to outgoing co-principal June Mangasarian and teacher Stacey Khatchadourian, both recognized for their lasting contributions.
The event concluded with a congratulatory address and closing prayer by Fr. Nazarian.
