MOURAD ARMENIAN SCHOOL CELEBRATES NATIVITY AND THEOPHANY

On Sunday, January 4, the Sts. Vartanantz Church Mourad Armenian School of Providence welcomed the church community and families to celebrate the Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ. Before the celebration, students and family members attended the Divine Liturgy and received Holy Communion at Sts. Vartanantz Church.  

More than 130 guests, including Rev. Fr. Kapriel Nazarian, Pastor, and Yn. Debra, Rev. Hagop Manjelikian and Pampish Gohar, Sts. Vartanantz Church Board of Trustees members, representatives of the Armenian organizations, families, and friends, gathered at the Aramian Auditorium and Fermanian Hall for the traditional Armenian Christmas celebration.  

In her opening remarks, principal Mrs. Lala Attarian welcomed and thanked everyone for supporting the school, commending students and teachers for their dedication and thanking the parent-teacher organization, the Ladies’ Guild, and the Men’s Club for ensuring the event’s success. 

Archdeacon Hagop Khatchadourian, Chair of the Mourad School Committee, was invited for the opening prayer. He also delivered the message reflecting on the Catholicosal proclamation of 2026 as the Year of Spiritual Renewal as an auspicious call to reinvigorate community life in Providence and, in particular, the Mourad Armenian School. 

The school program followed Mr. Khatchadourian’s remarks, with students reciting poems and offering a musical performance under the direction of music teacher Raffi Rachdouni. Prior to leading the closing prayer, Fr. Kapriel offered reflections on the role of faith and the Church in community life.
