ARCHBISHOP ANOUSHAVAN ATTENDS THE INSTALLATION OF MONSIGNOR RONALD HICKS AS ARCHBISHOP OF NEW YORK

On Friday, February 6, Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, attended the installation of Monsignor Ronald Hicks as the new Archbishop of New York in a ceremony held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan. The press reported that more than 2,000 people filled the cathedral on Fifth Avenue, including seven cardinals, about 90 bishops and 400 priests, religious sisters and brothers, civic leaders, as well as family, friends, and parishioners.

In his homily, Archbishop Hicks thanked fellow clergymen, including the outgoing Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and extolled the Church’s mission of spreading the Gospel.

“This is a call to be a missionary church, not a country club,” he said. The latter, he added, exists to serve its members. “The Church exists, on the other hand, to go out and serve all people — on fire with faith, with hope, and charity in the name of Jesus Christ.”
