STS. SAHAG AND MESROB INSTITUTE OPENS YEAR OF SPIRITUAL RENEWAL LECTURE SERIES

Following His Holiness Catholicos Aram I’s announcement of 2026 to be as the “Year of Spiritual Renewal,” the Saints Sahag and Mesrob Institute of the Eastern Prelacy has created this year’s curriculum to reflect the understanding of spiritual renewal. In the first series of lectures, which spanned from February 12 into March 19, the emphasis has been on the Apostolicity in the Armenian Church. Archdeacon Dr. George A. Leylegian, an expert in Armenian Church liturgy, presented six lectures to explain why the Armenian Church is apostolic in both origin and development. More than sixty people took part in the Thursday evening courses and explored how the apostles brought Christianity to the Armenian people and how the Armenian Church continues to preserve the theology and liturgy inherited from apostolic times to this day. The courses were offered in both English and Armenian, and supporting documentation was provided to all participants. The lectures were recorded and archived by the Saints Sahag and Mesrob Institute.

The next series of lectures will be presented by Rev. Fr. Hrant Kevorkian, Pastor of St. Sarkis Church (Dearborn, Michigan), on April 9, 23, 30, May 7 and 21, on the spirituality of the “Soorp Badarak – Divine Liturgy.”
