This book is the most accurate, comprehensive, and technically sophisticated publication on the birds of Armenia and Caucasia in general. Armenia, a country the size of the state of Maryland, has 346 species of birds, an extraordinary number when compared with the 550 species in the whole of Europe and the 750 species in the area encompassed by the former Soviet Union.
