The tyrannical monarch of Persia demands that neighboring Armenia renounce its faith and bow down to his sun god. The Armenian princes are confronted with an overwhelming crisis—yield to the monarch’s unequivocal demand or suffer the certain devastating invasion by the monarch’s mighty armies.

Arising out of the crisis are direct confrontations between the princes and the Persian monarch, disruptive internal misunderstandings, political and romantic clashes, a definitive battle between the hastily mobilized national army and the superior Persian army, and many other heroic exploits.
