The story of the Silent Generation is based on the biographical recollections of the survivors of the Ottoman Empire’s genocide against the Armenians. Although each survivor’s odyssey is distinctly unique, together they are representative of the depth and overwhelming tragedy that engulfed more than two million people. Today only a smattering of survivors is alive. Sadly, for almost a century their voices were quashed by guilt, remorse, fear, and an attempt to protect their heirs from the horrors they escaped. The outrages of their youth remained private and unheard. The Silent Generation attempts to pause, look back, listen, and give voice to those who elected to remain silent for so long so that both the horrors and the triumphs of the past are never forgotten.
