On Sunday, December 20, Rev. Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, Pastor of St. Illuminator’s Cathedral in New York, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Armen Morian, and the Treasurer, Ms. Mireille Babigian, presented His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, with a $10,000 check to be forwarded to the Holy See of Cilicia for necessary expenses.
In addition to it, Fr. Mesrob gave a second, $2,500 check for the Nerses the Great charitable organization as a New Year’s gift for homeless families from Artsakh.
The loyalty of Fr. Mesrob to the Holy See has been exemplary. He has always tried to encourage the Board of Trustees and the flock to help fulfill generous charitable initiatives.
On this occasion, the Prelate highly praised Fr. Mesrob and the Board’s devotion to the Great House of Cilicia and our homeland. Arch. Anoushavan highlighted the importance of St. Illuminator’s Cathedral, which for 105 years has justified its mission as a beacon of hope and light with its service in the religious, cultural, and social life of our people. He further expressed his hope that our churches and community organizations in America would become stronger to help without any restrictions our brothers and sisters in the homeland and the Diaspora.
The above mentioned donations were transferred to the intended recipients on Monday.
