Here are impressions from some of the students who participated in the Prelacy’s St. Gregory of Datev Institute summer program, which was held at the St. Mary of Providence Center in Elverson, Pennsylvania, from June 26 to July 3. Of the 35 registrants this year, 18 were first time participants. The Datev Christian educational Summer Program combines fun recreational activities with academics, about five hours of educational component a day, coupled with morning and evening prayer-worship services.
Coming back to Datev after the pandemic was very heartwarming and wonderful. I got to spend time with the people I consider family and made some great memories. I can’t wait to come back in future years and continue learning and growing my Christian faith.

Datev was a fun experience, and the classes answered a lot of questions I had about the Armenian Church. I will most definitely be coming back next year. We are all a family and everyone makes it feel that way.

Datev was such a fun experience. I was able to connect with other Armenians from all over and become family with them, while learning about God and my church. This was truly unforgettable and I can’t wait for next year!

This year Datev was so much fun… The classes taught me so much about the Armenian Church and my religion. Being in-person also led me to make new friends and get the full experience. Datev was very enjoyable and I hope to come back for many more years.

For me, Datev was an unforgettable experience. I made new friends and got out of my comfort zone. I also connected more to my Armenian culture through song, dance, friends, and religion.
— Greg Varjabedian,
Coming back to Datev was amazing. After 2 years of online Datev it was so refreshing to see everyone and meet new people but most importantly learn even more about God and growing in my faith. I love how Datev balances faith, culture, and fun perfectly. If I had to rate Datev it would be a 10000/10!
— Sarineh Cunningham
This year at Datev I had a lot of fun… I made many new friends and got better at Armenian dance. The nuns were very kind as well. The night angels/counselors were helpful and kind. Classes were very informative and engaging. Thanks to everyone for making my first Datev experience a memorable one!
