MEMORIES OF A REOPENING 35 YEARS AGO AND TODAY

On May 12, 1987, the grand opening of the renovated building of the Prelacy (then of the Eastern United States and Canada) took place. Its memory has remained in the picture accompanying this piece, which depicts, along with His Eminence Archbishop Mesrob Ashjian, of blessed memory, the following people from left to right: Dr. Raffy Hovanessian; Dr. Aram Semerdjian; Mr. Hagop Kouyoumdjian; Very Rev. Fr. Anoushavan Tanielian; Mrs. Hasmig Hovnanian; Mrs. Seta Semerdjian; Mrs. Vicky Shoghag Hovanessian, and Mr. Vahakn Hovnanian.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, except for two periods of a total of four months in 2020 and 2021, the Eastern Prelacy offices remained open to the public. This week, we have returned in full to our ordinary office activities, in a reopening of sorts, ending the partial working-from-home schedule that had been implemented due to the pandemic.

Reopenings of totally different kind, but always with the same renewed spirit.
