On Sunday, October 23, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Soorp Asdvadzadzin Church in Whitinsville on the occasion of the church’s 65th anniversary. The community also welcomed the newly consecrated Holy Muron, and the Blessing of Water service was held at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.
After the liturgical ceremonies, the celebration continued at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, RI. The event began with the singing of the American and Armenian national anthems by Tamar Kanarian. MC Richard Kanarian welcomed the one hundred and twenty guests. George Marashian, Board of Trustees Chairman, gave his remarks referring to Rev. Fr. Mikael Der Kosrofian, Pastor, Yeretsgin Susana and their children as the First Family of the community, leading everyone in service. Der Hayr thanked God and the parishioners for their devoted support asking the community to continue to work together regardless of the size of the parish.
Charles Ampagoomian presented the proclamation of the town of Northbridge, to which Whitinsville belongs, while state Rep. David Moradian read the proclamations of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Gov. Charles Baker on the church’s anniversary.
This year the Prelacy Certificate of Merit was awarded to recipients Carol Bedrosian and Vivian Nigro for their commitment to serve the church, always going above and beyond.
Archbishop Anoushavan had words of praise for the spirit of cooperation in the small yet enthusiastic community, congratulating the Pastor, Board of Trustees and Ladies Guild for their efforts. “You are a small community, but nevertheless, you are a vibrant community,” he said.
A DJ was on hand for musical entertainment and a little bit of dancing to celebrate this special milestone. Srpazan commented that this year’s celebration was a good segue for the 66th celebration. The event closed with a blessing and singing of “Giligia”.
