PRELACY’S AID FOR ARTSAKH ARMENIANS CONTINUES

The Eastern Prelacy continues providing support to the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh. Thanks to donations by our faithful, every month up to 35 families receive basic necessities worth $4,000-$4,500 in cooperation with the Yerevan-based charity “Hope and Light” («Յոյս եւ Լոյս»).

In addition to it, the Prelacy’s St. Nerses the Great Charitable and Social Organization, with the sponsorship of St. Sarkis Church of Detroit, purchased 500 new pairs of shoes manufactured in Armenia, while the sponsorship of St. Sarkis Church of Douglaston, New York, brought in 520 new overcoats, also made in Armenia.

Immediately following the forcible displacement of our sisters and brothers from Artsakh, a fundraiser was organized as well as the donation of goods for the affected families. Prelacy representatives visited families  temporarily resettled in the regions of Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Aragatsotn, Armavir, and Ararat, distributing shoes, coats, and monetary aid among them. Items and financial support have also been provided at the St. Nerses the Great office for visiting Artsakh Armenians.

The Prelacy, the sponsoring churches, and the Nerses the Great organization have received multiple expressions of gratitude from the families and individuals who have benefited from the charity work, which still continues.
